Through the Best Start Initiative licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and delivered by the District of Temiskaming Social Services Administration Board; the Early Learning Program is offered in licensed childcare centres throughout the District of Temiskaming. It is important to strengthen healthy development, early learning and child care services during a child’s first years. It is ideal for children in Ontario to be ready and eager to learn by the time they enter Grade 1.

Through the Early Learning Program more children and parents have access to services and supports as well as early and on-going screening to identify potential issues with accessibility to numerous resources, strengthening needs and risks, and further easing the transition into the classroom.

The Englehart and Area Child Care Centre and the Wee Care Day Care centres offer the Early Learning Program for 2 ½ hours per day, unless otherwise announced, for children between the ages of 2 ½ and 4 years of age, from September until June. The opportunity is provided at no cost to families and operates Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Please register early to ensure a space.
